We strive to create a world where everyone has the opportunity to thrive through education centered around nutrition, regardless of their background or circumstances. We challenge every one of you to take control of your health and learn as much as you can about the effects of food in relation to your body. This knowledge could ultimately save your life!
Let's look at the truth. People are getting fatter and sicker by the millions. It is now normal for the average American to weigh over 200lbs and/or suffer from some type of disease. As a nation, we spend hundreds of billions of dollars a year on food. The landscape of America is also changing. Rolling hills of farmland have succumbed to urban sprawl and morphed into paved mega shopping centers. A street in Mississippi, one in Utah, and another in Florida are all dotted with one restaurant after another after another. Food is literally offered everywhere you turn. Most of you go to bed thinking of food and wake back up in the morning thinking about food. Millions of you buy and consume food daily without giving thought to where it came from, how it got to you, what it is comprised of or how it was prepared. It is now time for you to start paying attention!

Genetically modified crops are created when scientists introduce genetically modified organisms (GMO's), DNA or genetic material from a different organism, into an already naturally occurring plant.
GMO foods were created to make farming easier and food processing cheaper. Scientists genetically modify fruits and vegetables for a myriad of reasons. The use of GMOs can make the crops more attractive, have a higher tolerance for herbicides and pesticides, or make them more resistant to diseases and viruses. These are just a few reasons or ways that crops are made into GMOs. There are literally 100s.
There are many concerns surrounding the consumption of GMO foods/products. Altering the DNA or genetic material of a substance is essentially uncharted territory, and scientists have yet to prove what the long-term effects will be. At the very least, there are concerns about allergens and antibiotic resistance when consuming GMO products. But, studies have also linked consumption to other health risks such as cancer, immune issues, and even changes to human DNA.
Organic farming relies on the use of natural methods for pest and weed control, crop nutrients, and soil management, instead of using harmful synthetic chemicals. Organic meat, poultry, eggs, and dairy products cannot be treated with antibiotics or growth hormones. Organic food production also prohibits the use of GMOs.
Product labels are the best way to identify organic foods. If the product is labeled 100% Organic, this means that all ingredients used are certified organic and can display the USDA seal. If the product is labeled Organic, this means that 95% of the ingredients are certified organic and can also display the USDA seal. If the product is labeled Made with Organic Ingredients this means that at least 70% of the ingredients used are organic and cannot display the USDA seal. Additionally, if the produce is loose, look for a PLU code (price look-up code), all organic produce begins with the number 9.
Organic foods are the best for your overall health than conventional food products. Organic food has lower levels of heavy metals and synthetic fertilizer residues, which reduces the risk of cancer of the lungs, liver, bladder, and skin.. Organic food has higher nutrient levels that help with building and repairing tissue and help boost immunity.
The US Food and Drug Administration has banned the use of red dye No. 3 in food, beverages and ingested drugs, more than 30 years after scientists discovered links to cancer in animals, the agency announced Wednesday.
A synthetic color additive made from petroleum and chemically known as erythrosine, red dye No. 3 is used to give foods and beverages a bright cherry-red color.
It is scientifically proven that ultra-processed food is directly related to the following diseases and more: Obesity, heart disease, hypertension, stroke, cancer, metabolic syndromes, neurological disease, inflammation and mental disorders. It is estimated that 1500 people die each day from chronic food illnesses.

On Why You Should Eat Organic Foods
A Must See! Why GMO's are not good for you or the environment.
We are living in unprecedented times in regards to food. Most of the food available to us is ultra processed and extremely toxic to our bodies. Americans consume more of these foods than any other country.
No Sugary Drinks!
This week, cut out all sugary drinks. This includes sodas, sweet teas, punches, juices, etc. This week concentrate on hydrating your body with actual water.
No Fast Food!
This week, cut out eating at any food establishment with a drive-thru window. Concentrate more on balanced, home-cooked meals.
Move Move Move!
During this week, exercise at least 30 minutes each day. Take a walk during lunch. Do sit-ups while listening to your favorite podcast. Whatever movement you choose, just move for 30 minutes each day!
No Snacks!
Cut out all snacks this week. Eat your meals and nothing else. No snacking in between, period.
No Meat!
Cut meat out this week! Yes, meat! Try eating every meal this week without adding any type of animal flesh!
Rest!
This may seem trivial. But, rest and sleep contribute to healing your body. This week, get at least 8 hours of rest and/or sleep each day. If this means going to bed a little earlier, do it!
According to www.ewg.org, 'Almost 99 percent of food chemicals introduced since 2000 were greenlighted for use by food and chemical companies rather than properly reviewed by the Food and Drug Administration. Many of these widely used chemicals are associated with major health harms, including increased risk of cancer, developmental harm and hormone disruption.'
GMOs are foods that have been created through genetic engineering. To create a GMO, scientists first identify a trait that they want to reproduce in a plant, extract that trait from another organism (whether it be a plant, animal, or microorganism) and inserted in the DNA of the targeted plant; creating a new species.
